Tunnel 3 has two section, section Banda Aceh-Sigli later would be define as section A and section Sigli-Banda Aceh that would be define as section B. Each tunnel has a dimension of 12 m in length and 10,1 m in height. This reseach use empirical and numerical method.The empirical method used in this research is Terzaghi Dead Load and numerical method using RS2 software. Data that was obtained by laboratorium test will be modified using empirical equation to interpret the rock mass properties. According to RMR classification system the mass rock of Tunnel 3 Sigli-Banda Aceh has the value between 39-44, classified as class 4 poor rock and class 3 fair rock. The results of modelling using the numerical method shows that the deformation of tunnel is below the critical strain of rock masses on tunnel 3 that is 1,23%. The numerical method also shown that the SF of tunnel has value more than 1. The empirical method using Terzaghi Dead Load theory produce factor of safety in 2,5 in initial supporting and 6,2 in final support. The factor of safety of tunnel 3 has FoS more than 1 and the support installed able to stop the deformation to exceed the critical strain of rock masses, based by KEPMEN 1827 that regulate the underground construction it is safe to assume that the construction design and the supporting design of Tunnel 3 Sigli-Banda Aceh is safe and stable. text
