With the rising trend of acne-causing bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes) and the limited use of medication on certain patient, it is important to find natural-based alternative therapy. This literature review discussed various plants that can be used as alternative therapy for acne vulgaris from the last 10 years. Most of the plant extracts have antibacterial, antioxidant, antiinflammation, dan/or other activity, both in-vitro dan in vivo. Some studies suggested that certain active compounds contribute the activity of those plant extracts. These compounds are derived from terpenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, alkaloids, phenypropanoids, stilbenoids, lignans, dan quinones. text |
