INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/51691 Fungal spesies belonging to Penicillium sp. that reside in marine environment has received a lot of attention due to their richness in secondary metabolite production. The secondary metabolite of Penicillium sp. have been long recognized to be a promising source for drug development due to their extensive biological activity. In the medical world itself there is an urgency to develop antibacterial and anticancer drug. The rise of antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacterial, cancer cell resistance to existing anticancer drug and many type of cancer cell that the cure hasn’t been found yet encouranged researcher to continue to seek for a new compound that have antibacterial and anticancer activity. One of the alternative compound that can be developed into an anticancer and antibacterial drug is Pencillium sp’s secondary metabolite. This paper presents a systematic review on Penicillium sp.secondary metabolite that have cytotoxicity effect and antibacterial activity, as well as isolation and activity screening of Penicillium sp. secondary metabolite (covering from the beginning of 2010 untill 2020). the data were collected by performing literature study where 15 journals were taken from Science Direct (https://www.sciencedirect.com/) and Pubmed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) data base’s. recorded from the beginning of 2010 untill 2020 there are 39 Penicillium sp. secondary metabolite compounds that have antibacterial and / cytotoxicity effect activity. The 39 compounds consist of 26 secondary metabolites of Penicillium sp. with antibacterial activity and 14 compounds with cytotoxicity effects. The 39 secondary metabolite compounds are 4 indole diterpenoid compound, 3 phenalenone compound, 3 sesquiterpenoid compound, 4 isocoumarin compound, 3 diketopiperazine compound, 2 benzophenone derivative compound, 2 phenol compound, 2 anthranilic acid derivative compound, 2 diphenyl derivative compound, 2 diketopiperazine alkaloid compound, 1 a-aflatremane compound, 1 aaflatremane compound, 1 aflavinine compound, 1 hydroxyphenyl acetic acid compound, 1 phenolic enamide compound, 1 fenol compound, 1 benzofuran compound, 1 phtalide derivative compound, 1 furanone compound, 1 hydroxybenzaldehyde compound and 2 other compound. text
