Description
Summary:Abstract :

Laminated composites consist of layers of at least two different materials that are bonded together. Lamination is used to combine the best aspects of the constituent layers in order to achieve a more useful material.

Composite structure can not be said to be failed even one of its layer has been failed. The failure of one of its lamina will decrease its resistance to increasing load. The decrease of its resistance to load will increase the more its lamina failed. Laminate will totally be broken when all of its lamina failed.

The first failure of the lamina is called as First Ply Failure (FPF). Where as the failure of the last fiber of the laminate is called Last Ply Failure (LPF). These two conditions are two importance factor in determining the design load of a structure component made of composite materials.

The problem is how to get the values of FPF and LPF. In this thesis both FPF and LPF will be evaluated.
