In the past 20 years on the island of Java, there were 25,658 natural disasters, including floods, landslides, tornadoes, fires, drought, industrial accidents, and earthquakes. The six provinces in Java are the centers of national economic growth. Based on previous research, several studies stated that there were negative effects of disasters on economic growth related to GDP. (Rasmussen, 2004; Noy, 2009; Loayza et al., 2012; Skidmore and Toya 2002). Rasmussen (2004) shows that natural disasters resulted in an average decrease of about two percent in the real GDP growth rate in the same year. As a result, a deadly disaster results in lower value and growth. For this reason, this study will look at disasters in each district / city in Java, from GRDP in every business sector, and examine their impacts on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Regencies/ municipalities in the DKI Jakarta metropolitan area and the southern part of Java had the highest numbers of disaster victims per disaster event. This research was conducted using multiple regression analysis with the object of 119 regencies / cities in Java in the period 2007 - 2015. The variables used are the value of GRDP as the dependent variable, and the number of workers per year and the number of disaster victims / number of disasters per year as independent variables. The results show the number of victims of disasters / number of incidents have a significant negative correlation with GRDP in manufacturing sector, agriculture sector, and trade sector. An increase in the number of victims of disasters / the number of disaster events as a whole or each type of disaster will reduce the value and growth of GRDP in the three main business sectors with the largest proportion of contribution, namely the manufacturing sector; agriculture, livestock, forestry and fisheries sectors; and the trade, hotel and restaurant sector. text
