The government's plan on the transfer of the State Capital (IKN) in Kutai
Kartanegara Regency and Panajan Paser Utara Regency makes East Kalimantan
Province the focus of acceleration in the development of both facilities, facilities,
and infrastructure. Bontang city as a satellite city strategically located with IKN has
the highest regional revenue from the oil and gas (oil and gas) industry. As a
resource that can not be renewable can make tourism as an alternative sector in
supporting the economy of Bontang City. Bontang city tourism sector has the
opportunity to increase the number of tourists with the transfer plan of IKN to East
Kalimantan. In order to maintain the environment while improving the economy of
the community, ecotourism-based tourism can be applied to Bontang City.
However, there is a similarity of tourist attraction found in Bontang City to other
areas in East Kalimantan Province, so there is a strategy of developing ecotourismbased tourism destinations in Bontang City. The analysis was conducted based on
ecotourism-based tourism destinations in Bontang City based on aspects of 3A
(Attraction, Amenity, and Accesibility), Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC),
ecotourism spectrum, superior tourist attraction, and Strength, Weakness,
Opportunity, Threat (SWOT) resulting in ecotourism-based tourism development
strategy in Bontang City. Based on SWOT analysis, tourist attraction in Bontang
City is in the second quadrant (S-T) in the position x (1.39) and y (-0.15). It is
obtained that tourism destinations in Bontang City have a great opportunity to be
developed by maximizing internal strength and addressing existing threats.
Strategies such as holding and organizing existing events and having a connection
to the environment, anticipating over developed planning that can lead to
environmental pollution, and fostering optimal tourism aware groups in order to
develop ecotourism-based tourism destinations in Bontang City. |
