Summary:The existence of microplastics has now entered various spheres of life. Likewise in the agricultural and plantation environment. The existence of various human activities around agricultural land as well as agricultural activities itself such as soil processing activities, plant care activities such as watering and applying fertilizers, making the possibility of exposure to microplastics in agricultural and plantation environments. This can have a negative impact on the quality of vegetable production, thus this study aims to determine the presence of microplastics from both the vegetable plantation environment and the resulting vegetable production. In this research, the observed vegetables were dry lettuce (Lactuca sativa), which is known to be a plant that can be consumed directly. Then to find out the greatest potential for agricultural activities and activities that can be a pathway for exposure to microplastics in curly lettuce plants. Samples were taken by grab sampling method. Microplastic separation using the Fenton oxidation method. Observations were made on two different land locations, firstly land adjacent to the highway and secondly land further from roads and settlements (Pristine). The largest average of microplastic observations in the environment and lettuce was found in water samples at 2 weeks planting time and dust samples attached to 2 weeks planting time from both study fields. Consequently, the average obtained was 2.4 ± 1.3 particles / liter and 7 ± 6 particles / gram from the roadside land and 2.7 ± 1.6 particles / liter and 7 ± 6 particles / gram from the pristine land. From the results of the correlation test, it is possible that agricultural activities that can expose microplastics to curly lettuce are watering and fertilizing.
