The use of leather in fashion and interior products has no doubt existed since ancient times until now. The leather becomes excellent material because the quality is very good, durable and flexible. But the use of animal skins is very influential to the rarity of certain animals, especially the few animals on earth, and the process of extracting skin that is torturing animals and is unnatural. One way to reduce the use of animals as leather is to replace them with synthetic leather but synthetic leather is not environmentally friendly because it uses polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyurethane (PU). Orange peel waste was chosen as the main raw material in making alternative materials that will be explored in this thesis. The method used is inspired by the manufacture of linoleum or commonly known as floor coatings. The ingredients used are orange peels which have become powder, flax seed oil, magnesium carbonate and wood flour which are useful as colouring. The results of this exploration are expected to create an alternative material derived from plants and have properties that are close to leather from animal skin in fashion products so that the use of animal skin in fashion products can be reduced.
