ISOLATION OF SECONDARY METABOLITES FROM THE STEM BARK OF CROTON ARGYRATUS AND ITS BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY
Croton is one of the genus from Euphorbiaceae family which grow in tropical and subtropic countries. In Indonesia, Croton can be found in Kalimantan, Java, Sumatera and Papua. Some researches had reported of its secondary metabolites, such as terpenoid, flavonoid, alkaloid and lignan with terpenoid...

Some researches had reported of its secondary metabolites, such as terpenoid, flavonoid, alkaloid and lignan with terpenoid as the main compound. Literature study has shown that Croton have biological activities as antiinflammation, anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal and antiulcer. Croton argyratus is one of the species from Croton. Until now, Croton argyratus phytochemical research has not been widely reported, therefore the study about secondary metabolites of Croton argyratus and its biological activities have potential to be explored. This research reports the secondary metabolites isolated from the stem bark of Croton argyratus and evaluates the inhibitory activity of the isolated compounds against tyrosine kinases. The extraction of Croton argyratus stem bark was using maceration method with acetone in room temperature. Fractination of acetone extract using vacuum liquid chromatography, separation and purification using column chromatography and radial chromatography. Three terpenoid compounds, known as acetyl aleuritolic acid, anticopalol and nerolidol had been isolated and determined its structures using 1D-NMR (1H and 13C) and 2D-NMR (HSQC, HMBC, and ROESY) spectroscopy, and were tested for its activities against tyrosine kinases. The biological activities showed that acetyl aleuritolic acid has a weak inhibitory properties against tyrosine kinase with the kinase activity were 78%. text |
