An environment that is able to return positive feelings to its users is called a restorative environment. These feelings can play a role in restoring mental health and stress. The mental health of the people in Palembang City because they face work burdens and demands, social problems in small cities due to economic problems (Legiran, 2015; Mutiah, 2019; Triwilandari, 2014; Yuliani, 2018). The awareness of the need for green open space for the quality and welfare of the community is now being improved by policy makers. Therefore, this study aims to explain the effect of garden green open space on the psychological condition of visitors by taking a case in Palembang City. This study uses a descriptive-quantitative approach and is exploratory in nature. The use of descriptive method is that the writer wants to describe the object under study as is the park in Palembang City. It is explorative in nature because to identify the respondent's answer information, it is necessary to explain based on perceptions and preferences of the park when obtaining restorative benefits in a place. In analyzing visitors, researchers used environmental psychology theory, namely Attention Restoration Theory (ATR) by Kaplan (1989) and restorative environmental measurements using the Perceived Restoration Scale (PRS) by Hartig (1997). The results of this study will explain: (a) the influence of the park on the psychology of visitors, (b) the identification of the design of the physical components of the park and (c) the effects felt by visitors after being in the park. The results of this study can provide additional knowledge for urban designers, especially designing restorative parks. text |
