Rather than focusing on private wealth and business performance, social enterprise is focusing on social change which contribute to the organizations in creating the social impact. The concept of social enterprise continues to mean different things to different people and there is no clear understanding on where to locate it and on how to qualify social entrepreneurs. Located in East Indonesia, social enterprise empowered local women and community through weaving and craft products. The social enterprise community in Indonesia are often operating outside the capital and big cities which are important to reach the economic development in rural areas. The purpose of this research is to explain and indicate some of the social enterprise’s ethical dilemmas in partnership with its stakeholder, the Women Groups through empowerment program. As a pilot project, the experience in East Indonesia will give a diverse perspectives on how social enterprise tackle the local issues in close-knit community. text |
