Summary:<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> The JPEG (Joint Picture Experts Group) image compression uses 8 x 8 pixel DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) for transformation processing, it makes block effect in high compression ratio. Another transformation which makes no block effect as 8 x 8 DCT is wavelet transform that can transform image with specified resolution into some parts of image with different resolution. <br /> EZW (Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) and SPIHT (Set Partitioning In Hierarchical Trees) are progressive coding method of transformation coefficient. In EZW, coding method of transformation coefficient uses successive approximation quantization, in SPIHT, it use binary representation. <br /> According to the simulation result, three images with special characteristic as an input, EZW and SPIHT image compression are better than JPEG image compression, especially in high compression ratio. In noisy transmission channel, EZW and SPIHT visual reconstruction image still have good representation.<p align=\"justify\">
