Description
Summary:Vertical housing is a solution for the increasing housing needs of the Balinese people. Unfortunately, this solution is still considered to be pros and cons in the community. Therefore, this thesis is conducted with the aim of finding criteria and forms of vertical housing design that are acceptable in society. Bali is an archipelago with beautiful culture and nature, therefore tourism on the island of Bali is one of the best tourism in Indonesia, but tourism has an impact on population growth. The uncontrolled population growth by the government raises housing problems for the Balinese, especially in terms of the supply of livable housing. The problem of housing needs, especially in the city of Denpasar as the capital, reaches 2,224 houses, this raises a problem that must be resolved immediately. Seeing the high price of land in Bali, one way to meet these residential needs is vertical housing. Previous research has been carried out and produced NSPK 1 and 2 as the initial stage of the vertical building program. However, this is still the basic idea of vertical housing design. In this thesis NSPK is used as a basis or initial rule. Then combined with Balinese cultural vertical housing journals. Culture is considered very important for society, therefore in every decision, cultural elements must still be considered so that this vertical occupancy can be accepted. The design used the theory of cultural transformation with the TCUSM method. This method dissects and combines the design criteria into new criteria. Apart from these methods, the supporting theories of sense of place and place identity are the basis for bringing out Balinese concepts in design. After the concept of vertical Balinese culture appeared, 364 respondents were tested to see the response of community acceptance. After that, the validation was carried out on 212 respondents to see the desire of the community to live in a vertical Balinese culture. This is done online with the target respondents being Balinese people from various backgrounds. Then the results of the questionnaire were combined with the results of interviews with experts who participated in the meeting on NSPK. After it was found that most of the people were willing to try and accept Balinese cultural vertical housing, then this thesis was continued with the application of the concept to the building design with TCUSM processing. This method produces a criterion where the vertical occupancy criterion is 60% and the Bali occupancy criterion is 40%. Overall the design will be in the form of a modern vertical building but with Balinese accents and flavors in it. Cultural facilities and supporting facilities are planned in the design so that they can adapt the design to the surrounding conditions.
