N-ISDN (Narrowband - Integrated Services Digital Network) is a digital service infrastructure which is capable of supporting a variety applications of multimedia. Some advantages possessed by ISDN technology such as: a reasonable priced \"implementation solution\", providing a dialed-up \"bandwidth on demand\" (more customized), and relatively introducing a \"quality enhancement,\" while creating demanding factors in providing the ISDN services.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />

This research is to conduct a more technical study in developing an architectural model of network and other effective technology to support the implementation of the access network for ISDN Narrowband service, efficiently and more flexible. M architectural concept of next-generation network, with its competitive advantages, can overcome the lack and obstacles still perceived by an architectural concept of hierarchy in the traditional telephony network, so that tends to become a best solution for a network architecture to be developed.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
<br />
An identification to several applied technologies that can support the main function of next-generation network architecture, is also conducted in this research, therefore they all playing complementary roles and improve the functionality and flexibility of the access network for ISDN service which employ that particular architectural network concept. These technologies are: to wider the coverage area within reach from the access network by employ network overlay with ICS (Interoffice Carrier System) or with digital repeater, xDSL technology to optimize the utilization of 2-wire copper cable as an access line to subscriber.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
