Summary:COVID-19 does not only affect health aspect, it also influences oher aspects, which are economic, social and community livelihoods. Widespreaded corona virus affects every community group including indigenous peoples whom are susceptible. They are a group of people who are prone due to isolated residence and limited access to healthcare facilities. The impact of COVID-19 pandemic would change people's behavior and activities also requires community to adapt to new social condition and environment. Hence, adaptation strategy is necessary to escalate the adaptive capacity of indigenous peoples. The aim of this research is to identify adaptive capacity of indigenoius peoples Baduy Luar in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a descriptive research method with a mixed approach, namely quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data collection methods that being used are primary data in the form of distributing questionnaires to 36 respondents, interviews with community leaders, and observation, and for the secondary data collection in the form of reports and legislation. The analytical method used in this research is inferential statistical analysis and explanatory sequential mixed method. This research adopts the adaptive capacity theory proposed by Swanson and is modified by combining with health aspects, especially for handling COVID-19. Adaptive capacity is influenced by six selected factors, namely economic resources, technology, information and knowledge, infrastructure, institutions, and equity. This study concludes that with the fulfillment of the six supporting factors for adaptation, indigenous peoples can modify and make adjustments so that they can overcome the losses that occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The existence of the six resources owned by the Baduy Luar people shows their adaptability which includes conditions in the socio-economic, livelihood, and institutional aspects so that this allows indigenous peoples to face and overcome the threat of change that they faced.
