Description
Summary:Injection moulding is one of the process of forming an object or product from a thermoplastic material with a certain size and shape using a tool in the form of a mould that is given pressure and heat treatment. If defined, the mould is a hollow block whose composition consists of moveable plate and stationary plate. In the moulding process, polymer melt is injected by injection screw (Fill Injection) through the nozzle into the mould. Polymer Melt will undergo a plastication process according to the shape of the core and cavity mould, so that the desired product is formed. Nowadays, the products resulting from the injection moulding process are increasingly varied. This variation is closely related to changes in shape and volume (dimensions). In the previous technology, this variation was achieved by creating a new design, it aims to meet the criteria, especially in terms of mould precision. Changes in product shape and size require a redesign of the mould which includes the selection of standard components and calculations in determining mould parameters. Several design stages need to be passed, which obviously will take time and money. An alternative solution to this problem is to use a parametric design concept. Mapping parameters for mould design is one of the first steps in the process of using the design parameter method. This mapping will make it easier for the designer to know the direction and relations of a mould constituent component to be designed. Basically, parametric design is a method that defines or identifies the shape of an object or component using parameters. The parameters that have been defined will be mapped according to the relationship between parameters and their components. Parametric mould design will relate the parameters of each mould component that affect the change in the mould component geometry. In this research, the parameter mapping process for mould components was carried out as the first step in the process of using the parametric design method. The Output obtained from this parameter mapping process is a Parametric Mapping with variations in parameter changes in the form of product volume and material. The design is obtained from identifying each mould component, then identifying the relationship between the parameters for each mould component, building a parametric model, and making a parametric table for each mould component.
