Summary: | Lightning is one of the most common sources of electromagnetic interference that
can damage electrical equipment [1]. Electrical power systems that are exposed to
overvoltages from different sources such as lightning can endanger equipment such
as transformers, circuit breakers, etc. [2]. In addition, excessive voltage caused by
lightning strikes, earthing, or switching activities on an ongoing basis can endanger
the insulation of electrical equipment used in distribution systems and transmission
systems [3]. Lightning can strike the protective wire at the top of the tower, besides
that lightning can also strike the transmission line (Hayashi, Mizuno and Naito,
2008). On the other hand, indirect strokes can produce an induced voltage in the
equipment [3]. Research on lightning disturbances was carried out at Gsardu Induk
Menes Baru 150 kV, located on Jl. Independence Pioneer No. KM. 3.5 Caringin,
Labuan, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. The position of the Menes Baru
GI is about 500 m on the shoreline so that the updraft is very high. In making
participatory observations, the authors collect data on the characteristics of
lightning, data on damage to the control unit due to lightning, and other supporting
data. On March 15, 2020 there was a disruption in the distribution system to PT
Asahi mas 2. The channel to PT Asahimas uses 2 x 410 mm2 TACSR conductors.
Another disturbance occurred on April 21, 2020, the same disturbance occurred,
namely the disturbance that caused reclose at the PMT 150kV Labuan 1 operating.
The protection in the control building has the potential for interference due to
conduction through the channel. External lightning protection still needs additional
improvements, especially in the use of down conductors and grounding. The
grounding tower and the control building should not be separated, but united |
