Description
Summary:The plastic injection molding process is one of the mass production processes that has been widely applied at this time. One of the products that will be made is a mini cone which is generally used as an additional means for sports activities. The research method used is experimental. The design phase is carried out with the help of the SOLIDWORKS application, while the simulation stages are carried out with the help of the Moldex3D application. Several stages taken during the design process are determining the gate construction, making the mold cooling system, and making the product ejection system from the mold. More than one gate and cooling systems are designed. Then, each design is compared with the flow and cooling simulation processes. After the best design is selected, the mold is then made and tested in the real world with the help of several machine tools and a plastic injection machine. The final result of this study is a mini cone which is slightly different from the product design that was carried out in the early stages because it has not undergone the final cutting process. The final conclusion of this study is that mini cone products can be made by the plastic injection molding process using a mold that is fully equipped with a gate, cooling, and ejection system. However, this process has only been carried out until the initial experimental stage. Hopefully this research can be continued until mass production can be achieved.
