Description
Summary:One of the problems often faced in planning the installation of the pump or installations of fluid flow in pipeline system is the water hammer phenomenon. This water phenomenon will be very dangerous and can damage the components in the system. Water hammer can occur because the flow of fluid in the pipeline experienced a sudden change as a result of pump failure or sudden valve closure. To see more about the water hammer phenomenon, is an analytical study was carried out on the pump installation system without using pacifier and using pacifier, including using surge tanks, air valves, and hydropneumatic tanks. Analytical and numerical studies are did using theoritical calculations and simulations on the Bentley Hammer V8i software. This software uses characteristic of methods in solving problems related to transient flow in a piping system. The system being analyzed is a pump installation system that has a pipe length of 6.2 m and has a check valve on the pump. This system will be searched for increase and decrease in pressure to three points on the pipe, the point close to the pump discharge is 0.2 m from the pump, the point which is 3.2 m from the pump , and the point which is 5.7 m from the pump. The results will be obtained in the form of head, hydraulic grade line, pressure, and vapor volume along the pipe.
