Result indicated that the Rhoeo discolor H. extracts showed antimicrobial activity against B. subtilis, E. coil and S. aureus but no activity was observed against P. aeruginosa, T.mentagrophyles and M.gypseum. Fractionation of ethylacetate extract by column chromatography produced eleven fractions, where fraction four showed the largest antimicrobial activity. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis of isolate IV1 showed one peak with M<sup>+</sup> 130, molecular formula C<sub>7</sub>H<sub>14</sub>O<sub2</sub>, the expected component might be 3-methyl butanol acetate. text
