A STUDY ON THE DAMAGE OF EROSION BARRIER STRUCTURE IN ERETAN BEACH INDRAMAYU

<b>Abstract : </b><p align=\"justify\">The erosion occurring in Eretan Beach about 18 m/year which to follow to the main road between Cirebon and Pamanukan is cribs category so it\'s requires immediate handling because if it slighted it\'ll damaged the main road . <br /> The Prevention effort already conducted is the construction of a rubble mound in the year 1993, In front of the sea embankments, small cribs with a distance of 50 meters in between, a height of 1 meter and a length of 25 meters, are functioned to catch sediments. The Prevention effort already conducted not sucsess because from observation in the year 2000, it can be seen that the armors made of split stone slopes which were initially planned with the ratio of 1: 2, slid to 1:5. As for the cribs observed, many were missing or damaged. <br /> After conducting studies from the coming wave data, the slides occurring on the slopes were found to be caused by the minus stone weight,. Since it is difficult to obtain stones with a weight of 72 kg in the market, Water Research and Development Centre conducted a research by constructing different kinds of concrete blocks (like: cube concrete, sylinder, etc) to obtain a higher Kd value, as to obtain lighter weight.. If the cube shape is still considered inefficient and expensive, a search for other shapes which are more economical will then be conducted. While the damage on cribs is caused by the lack of height suggested to be 2 meters and 50 meters in length with 150 in in between
