Description
Summary:Abstract:

The objectives of this research were to study the structure of macrozoobenthos community and to study its relation with physical and chemical conditions of Satui river at South Kalimantan. The samples taken from 6 stasions, that is 2 stasions were located on upperside of the coal mining area (that is stasion I and V) and 4 stasions were located arround the coal mining area (that is stasion H, III, IV and VI). Macrozoobenthos were collected by Eckman grab (240 cm2). Six samples have been done that is August 7, 2000; August 21, 2000; September 4, 2000; January 8, 2001; January 22, 2001 and February 5, 2001. The results showed that 13 species of macrozoobenthos were encountered during this research (7 species of Gastropods, 2 species of Pelecypods, 2 species of Oligochaetes and 2 species of Insects). Goniobasis sp., and Tubifex tubifex were found to be the eudominant macrozoobenthos species. Diversity Index (H\') of Satui river belonged to the category of moderately pollution to heavily pollution. According to Saprobic Index (S) the Satui river was category of lightly pollution. Goniobasis sp., Pleurocera sp., Thiara scabra, Bithynia tentaculata and Tubifex tubtfex were consider as bioindicators macrozoobenthos species. The result of similarity analysis between 6 stasions, indicated that stasion VI were differ with others stasions. Multiple Regresion Analysis, indicated that physical and chemical conditions (temperature, transparency, water current, suspended solid, dissolved oxygen, pH, BOD, NH3-N and sulphate were responsible to the density of macrozoobenthos at Satui river.
