Summary: | Public space is an area where people can carry out various activities. One of
the public spaces that is still the choice of the civil society to visit is Puputan Badung
I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung square that located in Denpasar City. This square has
public facilities that can be used by visitors, from children, adults, and older people.
However, by seeing Denpasar as a city of culture, the current existence of Denpasar
City Square does not yet reflect cultural values, especially in a spatial context.
Coupled with the existence of several public facilities that are inadequate and unfit for
use. So from this, it is necessary to make efforts to improve the physical quality of the
area by redesigning it. Redesign can be done by first compiling design principles. So
the purpose of this study is to formulate design principles that can be used in the
process of formulating the design of the Denpasar City square area.
Design efforts in this study consider an approach, namely the Eco-cultural
approach. This approach is produced through a qualitative content analysis method
to obtain new design components that are in accordance with the Eco-cultural
concept, which can be seated in the public space of the alun-alun. Then, primary data
collection will be carried out through observation to observe facts in the field, which
will be compared with ideal conditions, which in this case is a review of public space
and the Eco-cultural concept. After this process, a number of problems were identified,
which would then be taken into consideration in the formulation of new design
principles. The conclusion of this research is the formulation of new design principles
that are prepared to provide the components of the design components needed in order
to achieve a square that has a cultural insight, ecological function, and accommodates
the needs of visitors. |
