INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/52943 Air Belo, West Bangka Regency is part of Southeast Asia Granite Belt has the potential of tin and rare earth elements resources as plaser deposits. The study area is located at 105011'4 "-105013'29" East Longitude and 2000'47"-204'12" South Latitude. The aim of this study to determine the area of potential tin and rare earth elements and to determine the direction of further exploration in the research area. The morphology of the study area consists of intrusion hills, alluvial plains, and coastal plains. The stratigraphy of the study area consisted of granite, intercalated of sandstone-claystone, and alluvial deposits. Alluvial deposits in the study area consisted of two types, ancient alluvial deposits and streamflow deposits. Analysis of plaser deposits was divided into three fractions, #48 fraction (297-354 ?m), #100 fraction (149 ?m), and -100 fraction (<149 ?m).Geochemical analysis using the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) method was carried out on alluvial and granite to determine tin and rare earth elements content. The geochemical analysis is divided into two, univariate statistical analysis which aims to determine the anomalous value of tin and rare earth elements and interpolation with ordinary kriging to determine the enrichment area for tin and rare earth elements in the study area. Heavy minerals contained in alluvial deposits were identified using Grain Counting Analysis (GCA). The enrichment area of tin is located in the southeast area of the research area, while the enrichment area of rare earth elements are located into three areas, the northwest, southwest, and northern areas of the research area. Based on the Grain Counting Analysis, the heavy minerals containing tin and rare earth elements are cassiterite, zircon, and tourmaline. The rare earth element is more dispersed than tin due to the influence of mineral density. Minerals carrying rare earths such as tourmaline (? = 2.9-3.1 g / cm3) and zircon (? = 4.6-5.8 g / cm3) have a lower density so that they are easier to transport than cassiterite (? = 6.98-7.01 g / cm3). The direction of further exploration for tin is in the southeast direction of the research area, while the direction of further exploration for rare earth elements is the northwest, southwest, and north of the research area text |
