Description
Summary:Sound is an integral part of a product usage experience. Sound is a defining component that can either increase or decrease the pleasantness standard of product usage, and was starting to be designed since 1990s. The application include the giant manufacturing company, from the automotive, household utensils, to the snacks industries. However, the research regarding the product sound design on product with natural material is still scarce. Where as, this application could be a unique selling point, and in the end increasing the total product value and its sales. Therefore, this research aim to identify the sound’s charachter (from difference in frequency, amplitude, and tempo) that maybe produced from plywood and a simple way to apply it. The methods used starts with sound exploration using a simple specimen. Then, the result will be analyzed using the frequency and sound envelope analysis. The analysis result is used to designed 2 types of plywood mechanical toy; a rubber band gun (2 specimens), and rubber band car (2 specimen). These products are also tested for the physical sound charachter (frequency and sound envelope), then is tested to responden with semantic differential. All the data produced are combined to make a general identification toward product sound design on plywood mechanical toys.
