Summary: | CV Frinsa Agrolestari is one of the green bean coffee producers located in Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, West Java. Coffee fruit originating from various locations in Bandung Regency area, transported and processed into greenbeans at the drymill facility. At this facility, three types of post-harvest processing methods are implemented, Such as the Full Wash, (Wet Hulling and, Dry Milling) and Dry Process. Every year cherry production can reach up to 30 -50 tons and processed further into different postharvesting methods. Each postharvest method is affected by various factors, such as weather, humidity, engine performance, and human resource performance. From this postharvest process, wastes produced such as pulp, husks, and wastewater are produced during washing in the wet process. By analyzing the mass and energy balance of each post-harvest process, a strategy can be determined in optimizing the production process, related to implementing cleaner production strategies such as good house keeping, technology and process modification, and reuse of waste. Based on these data, alternative can be offered to optimize the postharvest process are upgrading coffee cherry sortation, pulper, fermentation, & washing station, pH neutralization using Ca(OH)2, BOD/COD reduction using granular activated carbon, and optimizing coffee drying using dehumidified greenhouse. Based on economy analysis, the NPV value is > 0 and payback priode achieved within 5,5 months. By applying Cleaner production system, it is estimated to reduced carbon footprint from typical value of 9,13 kgCO2/ kg greenbean to 6,67 kgCO2/ kg greenbean. |
