Summary:The future of coal mining industry in Indonesia will be redefined in the context where the coal production costs are determined by global competition and more efficient. Declining of coal prices, government safety regulation, increased labor cost, ineffective and inefficient internal business processes are all pressuring the company’s profitability. Dealing with that, Berau Coal must explore the new solutions by implementation of technology in the current business processes. CPP Binungan - Suaran and coal hauling will be the focus area for implementation of business solution. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) technology has brought several improvements and great automated solutions in the business world. It can be implemented in the coal mining business processes which can provide opportunities informed and timely decision making, optimization of operating cost, optimization of mining equipment performance and fuel and electricity savings. Considering the problem complexity and challenges, the research tries to provide SIMBIOSYS (Sinarmas Business Integration Systems) as the IIOT platform to improve and integrate current business processes. The research focuses on recent architecture of IIOT platform, platform development, pilot project and evaluate the adoption of IIOT in the context of Berau Coal. The research concludes that methodology and technologies of IIOT can be used to address business issues in Berau Coal. These business issues are addressed through the proposed business solution. It consists of IIOT technologies, architecture and devices as well as techniques and functions used within the IIOT platform. Implementation of SIMBIOSYS can provide solution for coal mining production in CPP area and coal hauling to be more efficient for cost saving USD 2.2 million per year and increase company’s revenue opportunity from 10% improvement of fixed plant equipment utilization which generate USD 124.8 million.
