Summary:Bamboo is an environmentally friendly material, easy, affordable and applicable, has high strength and flexibility, also a familiar plant in Indonesian culture because it is easy to maintain and well known for its sustainability. With its physical characteristics that are strong, resilient, straight, hard, easy to shape, and lightweight, bamboo is a potential material to be developed into daily products. Through design development, bamboo can be developed into various sports products. Sports is an activity carried out to train the human body so that the body feels healthier and stronger, both physically and spiritually. As advances in science and technology have provided various behavioral and lifestyle changes, sports are now increasingly diverse. Sports no longer aiming for the body health, but also for recreation, even for the fulfillment of adrenaline satisfaction. Skateboarding is a type of recreational sports to fulfill adrenaline satisfaction that has dynamic movements that produce compressive and tensile forces, and requires tool in the form of a skateboard deck that has the strength and flexibility to accommodate these movements. Developing a bamboo skateboard deck requires research using mixed method, starting from the material experiment, the process, and its feasibility test as a raw material for production. Then proceed to the design development into final sports products using appropriate technology, until its possibility to be produced by small and medium Indonesian industries.
