Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of motivation and competence on affective commitment of generation X or millennial workers. Samples were taken from 400 respondents who work in state-owned companies in 5 industrial sectors on the island of Java. Data collection was accomplished by distributing the questionnaires with analysis using a 5-point Likert scale to measure 30 questions. The analysis used is Path analysis. The results showed that, for millennial workers in SOEs, motivation and competence had a significant positive effect on their affective commitment. The increasing motivation and competence of millennial workers in SOEs will enhance their affective commitment to the company. Increased affective commitment will reduce employee turnover cases in state-owned companies. There are two ways of the proposed strategy to increase motivation and competence in this research such as millennial teaching program and the innovation program for millennials.
