HYPOFRACTIONATED RADIOTHERAPY FOR ADVANCED BREAST CANCER IN INDONESIAN COVID â 19 PANDEMIC
COVID – 19 pandemic in the world has infected many people, including Indonesia. Patients with COVID – 19 virus have exceeded more than 200,000 cases recently in Indonesia. The virus that spreads through droplets is susceptible to attack cancer patients who have a low immune system so that cancer suf...

Patients with COVID – 19 virus have exceeded more than 200,000 cases recently in Indonesia. The virus that spreads through droplets is susceptible to attack cancer patients who have a low immune system so that cancer sufferers must minimize activities outside the home. Whereas cancer patients who are predominantly breast cancer need to get treatment, one of them is radiotherapy. One of the efforts to overcome the condition is by performing hypofractionation namely giving a dose with less fractionation than the standard fractionation but the dose per fraction being greater than 2 Gy. The study was conducted on cases of post – mastectomy breast cancer patients stage IIA - IIIB with a total dose of 50 Gy divided into 25 fractions. The dosage planning of the hypofractionation method that used in this study were 10, 12, 15, 17, and 20 fractions with a dose per fraction of 2 Gy – 4 Gy to obtain 15 variations of hypofractionation. The treatment planning system applied to this breast cancer case is 3DCRT with Field in Field technique. The data reviewed were the equivalence of the standard fractionation BED value to hypofractionation as stated in EQD2 and the DVH curve analysis. From these results, it was found that the optimal hypofractionation method could be applied to patients is 15 fractionation with dose per fraction 2.88 Gy based on a linear – quadratic model and had a shorter Overall Treatment Time (OTT). text |
