FACTOR OF SAFETY AND PROBABILITY OF FAILURE EVALUATION OF PTXYZ’S MINING SLOPE AND OPERATIONAL COST CONSIDERATION OF ITSFAILURE PREVENTION

Slopes with heterogeneous rock mass conditions need to be designed with a suitable geometric design so that failures do not occur. This is done to maintain the safety of workers and the continuity of other activities concerned. One of the mining slopes of PT XYZ has experienced an avalanche in its m...

The recommendation to decrease the overall slope angle produces a static safety factor of1.31 and a dynamic safety factor of 1.16 with a probability of failure of both are 0%. The recommendation to decrease the slope height results in a static safety factor of 1.41 and adynamic safety factor of 1.27 with a probability of failure of both are 0%. The combination recommendation by reducing the slope and height of the slope produces a static safety factorof 1.31 and a dynamic safety factor of 1.16 with a probability of failure of both are 0%.Recomendation by lowering groundwater surface produces a static safety factor of 1.30 and a dynamic static factor of 1.18 with a probability of failure both are 0%. The total operational cost for the recommended reduction in the overall slope angle is60,289.45 $ USD, for the recommended reduction in slope height is 85,410.05 $ USD, for the recommended combination of reduction in slope angle and slope height is 47,394.20 $USD and for the recommendation of lowering the groundwater surface is 6265.90 $ USD.The best recommendation is to lower the slope height because it produces coal recovery of13894.39 tons with a recovery rate of 90%. text
