Summary: | The development of infrastructures follows by the increase of the e-commerce
market will create new competitors in Indonesia Transportation Business especially
Road Transportation. Bhinneka Sangkuriang Transport (BST) is an Indonesian
Transportation Service Company that provide intercity transportation (big bus and
light commercial van) and truck rental services. BST Company wants to reduce
tires cost because tire procurement cost is one of the biggest cost in the BST’s
maintenance cost. The tire cost can count up to 2.5 billion rupiah annually (260
rupiah per kilometer).
On the bus operation, there are many factors that contribute to tire wear and failures.
The environment, human, and random operating condition make tire process very
complex to control. Due to the complexity, tires process will be improved with
analyzing tire failures data (managing risk). Unfortunately, most of tire data do not
complete, so analysis for improvement cannot be conducted.
In this research, tire management system function will be added with the system
capability for conducting Life Data Analysis. Then tire management system will be
evaluated by interviewing BST’s employee, analyzing tire data, and conducting
field survey on BST’s maintenance workshop (Cirebon). Failures will be searched
through these data and root causes of this failures will be identified. Tire
management system will be redesigned based on these failures, root causes, and
Life Data Analysis function requirement so the BST’s employee can analyze,
prioritize, and create improvement (reduce tire cost) continuously. At the end of the
research, plans will be created for implementing the study. The target of
implementing the redesigned tire management system are tire historical data
completion (95%), bus activity data completion (100%), and provide the BST’s
employee with complete data to analyze the tire failures (physical and system) for
reducing tire cost with the system. |
