Summary: | MSME businesses is still a foundation in Indonesia economy. Micro financing business in Indonesia still has a lot of potential for growth. One of the challenges in financing micro businesses is the manual and offline acquisition process. Recently, more banks have adopted a digital alternative to their working process. Mobile banking has emerged as a result. Bank BTPN offers loan for micro businesses using mobile USSD. The response from market has been good at first. However, manual process for onboarding and lack of data for verification decrease credit quality in the portfolio. Moreover, there is the need to scale-up quickly within the next few years.
Bank BTPN therefore needs to develop a business model that can solve these challenges as well as changes in the future. The main objective for the company is to minimize operational risk while improving the portfolio quality and scaling up the business sustainably. Therefore, the business model is designed by identifying the right approach for targeted customer from the value proposed for them, marketing channel and creating a fit revenue system to update current business process. Identifying the right customer segment thus become the first step in designing the business model. Based on in-depth interviews on existing and potential customer, required changes to current business model were identified. Furthermore, the recommendation and implementation plans were developed for the next two years ahead. |
