STUDY OF SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL OF COMFORT INDEX IN BANDUNG CITY AND ITâS RELATION TO LAND USE CHANGE
Developments such as settlements and rapid population growth in the city of Bandung can lead to change of land cover and comfort level. Previous studies on the comfort index in the city of Bandung have been carried out in a short period and at several measurement points. Therefore, in this research,...

Previous studies on the comfort index in the city of Bandung have been carried out in a short period and at several measurement points. Therefore, in this research, the comfort level is calculated using the Temperature Humidity Index (THI) method with a longer period and the study area in spatial grid. This research begins by processing Landsat 5, 7, and 8 satellite data to obtain maps of land cover, net radiation, air temperature, and relative humidity. Air temperature and relative humidity are corrected by surface-based observational data. From the corrected data, the value of THI in Bandung will be calculated which will be analyzed the relationship between THI and land cover changes that occur in Bandung City. The results show that from 2001-2019 that the city of Bandung experienced a change in land cover, which was dominated by non-green open space areas and the city of Bandung experienced an increase in temperature from year to year. Of the time average throughout the study, THI in Bandung City varies spatially: 7% of Bandung city is classified as comfortable, 46% partly comfortable, and 47% uncomfortable. Furthermore, the THI value fluctuates temporally and in general the THI value is classified as uncomfortable increasing from year to year. The value of THI of Bandung city is increasing over non-green open spaces and decreasing over green open spaces. text |
