Description
Summary:Digital transformation is changing the way people live and work. The covid-19 outbreak has raised the urgency to accelerate digital transformation, since technology can enable businesses to operate during social distancing and travel restriction. In the banking and financial service industry, digital technology has lowered the barrier to entry, opening opportunities for new players to compete in the market. As a line of business which serving SME market, a segment which is targeted by many other competitors, the Business Banking Directorate should boost digital transformation to reach a sustainable competitive advantage. People’s issues are one important aspect to be managed in digital transformation. As individual behavior will affect organization behavior, it is essential to first assess the readiness of the employee before implementing digital initiatives. The main objective of this research is to analyze the factors that influence the readiness of employees, to later propose a recommendation on preparing the workforce in digital transformation. To achieve the goal, questionnaires were distributed and the results were analyzed using SPSS software. The research revealed that personal factors simultaneously contribute 37.2% of employee’s readiness in digital transformation, and 23.9% to their reluctance. The score and the influence of the variables are mapped into matrices to see areas of improvement, which include belief of self-efficacy and job relevance, along with some attitudes toward technology (threat of job security, critical evaluation, collaboration, identity management and data protection). Considering the findings, an implementation plan is proposed to improve employee’s readiness for digital transformation.
