Description
Summary:Wireless Sensor Network is a potential platform for Structural Health Monitoring System. Traditional methods require manual inspections from an on-site operator or installing a wired connection of sensors along the bridge. Such methods are costly and inefficient. Monitoring solutions using Wireless Sensor Network provide numerous advantages as the cost of a typical sensor node is low, and there is no need for installing expensive cables. Thus, a data acquisition system utilizing Wireless Sensor Network is designed and tested in a testbed bridge. Virtenio Preon32 and PreonVM are used as the sensor nodes to collect vibration data. The acquired data is processed in-network using Fast Fourier Transform and Peak Picking algorithm to identify the fundamental frequency of the testbed bridge. The testing result has shown that the system is able to estimate the fundamental frequency of the testbed bridge.
