Description
Summary:There is a lot of problem happens in civil construction on the clay shale layer, such as landslides on the embankment of the Cipularang Toll Road at Km 97 + 500 connecting Jakarta and Bandung in 2006. Then, in 2010, there was also a landslide case in the hambalang sports building construction project in Citeurep Village, Bogor Regency, West Java and the last at the Cisomang Bridge, which is on the Cipularang toll road, which experienced a settlement. Especially in the Cisomang area, the geological formation is the Jatiluhur formation where most of the land in the area has the characteristics of being dominated by shale soil. Shale soil has unique properties, both in terms of shear strength and volume change. This research will discuss the volume change for Clayshale soil in the Cisomang area. The discussion of changes in soil volume was carried out by conducting a consolidation test of ASTM D-2435 and collecting data from the results of the soilwater characteristic curve (SWCC) from research conducted by Sugeng et al., 2020, were then combined to make constitutive surface predictions for the saturated-unsaturated conditions of shale loam soils. In this consolidation test, the ASTM D4546 swelling test was carried out as a correction to the consolidated data. In addition, slake durability testing is also carried out as additional information regarding clayshale characteristics. In the swelling test phase ASTM D4546 was carried out using method A and method C. In generally, the swelling test method A was the soil sample was swollen first and left until the primary swelling was then consolidated. While the swelling C method in general is that before the consolidation test the soil sample is immersed and not allowed to swell (by giving partial load). From the test results, the data used for constitutive surface processing is consolidated data with the swelling correction method C, this is because the test conditions are in accordance with the reference or approaching the field condition. ......
