| Summary: | The City of Jambi has an area with a long history of urban development called
Tanah Pilih Pesako Betuah, currently known as the Angso Duo market. This area
is also one of the locations selected as part of the development of tourist areas along
the riverfront of the longest river in Jambi, the Batanghari River. Many historical
events took place in the Angso Duo Market area, allowing it to have a special place
in the hearts of the people of Jambi. Having said that, the potential of this historical
area has yet to be fully utilized, and a conscious effort is needed to turn the
riverfront into an area that can be used as both a form of tourist attraction as well
as a public space for the people of Jambi. The design thesis therefore explores the
historical layer and urban tourism, which results in the formation of aspects of
riverfront tourism- serving as a basis in determining the design approach, namely
Collective Memory and Sense of Place. The approach will then be used to determine
the activities and functions that will be facilitated, such as public, culinary and craft
markets, tourism pier, public open spaces, visitor center, and resort facilities. |
