Accordingly, women’s economic empowerment is a key requisite for economic growth. However, evidence shows that gender inequality and discrimination are main barriers to advances in development outcomes. Gender inequality is still a big problem for several countries, especially developing countries like Indonesia. The existence of gender gap occurs due to lower financial literacy. Financial literacy index of women in various countries is always lower than men, including in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and its five dimensions, those are financial awareness, financial knowledge, financial skills, financial attitudes, and financial behavior on women's economic empowerment. Respondents in this study were women of productive age in Indonesia. Sampling was done by using non-probability sampling technique that is convenience sampling towards 632 respondents. The data collection process was carried out using a modified questionnaire and distributed via an online form. The research data were tested simultaneously and partially which processed and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that financial literacy simultaneously has a significant effect on women's economic empowerment. Financial awareness, financial skills, financial attitudes, and financial behavior partially have a significant effect on women's economic empowerment. Meanwhile, financial knowledge has no significant effect on women's economic empowerment. text |
