Description
Summary:The image of a library as a boring and monotone place is one of the important issues in library typology. Building a positive image in the library is important to increase the existence and value of the library in the public. Libraries can display a positive image by fulfilling their role as an information center, learning center, cultural preservation institution, and a place of recreation. The project is located in Gedebage Teknopolis (Block VI. SPU. 7) with the aim of the area as a Cultural Neighborhood. This area has a goal to create a residential environment that is synergized with social, cultural, sports, and commercial facilities as a space for community interaction. Libraries are expected to become a space of community interaction which is known as a Cultural Neighborhood. This can be achieved by integrating social, cultural, sports, and commercial facilities to the site context. On another side, large costs in maintaining and operating the library as a public space are another issue. To create sustainability and independence in the operational aspect of the library, commercial facilities are integrated into the design. Sustainability is also considered by applying the green building aspect to facilitate building maintenance.
