Description
Summary:The sink node is a part of the Wireless Sensor Network or WSN which is the interface between the WSN and the system components outside the WSN. In this case the WSN is a network of accelerometer sensors used to measure the vibration of the bridge structure. Vibration data will be used to measure the health level of the bridge. The system component outside the WSN in this case is a computer server which consists of a database and a web server. To reduce power, the new WSN will wake up from a sleep state to measure vibrations when a vehicle of a certain weight and axle number crosses the bridge. This vehicle is identified by using a piezoelectric weight sensor on the bridge. The sink node is used to process the signal from the piezoelectric, wake up the WSN, and process the vibration data from the WSN, as well as process and transmit the bridge data to the server computer. The database on the server computer serves as a bridge data archive. The web server serves to serve the Graphic User Interface in the form of online web pages.
