Summary: | An increase in the population on an urban scale can have an impact on increasing the total consumption of resources and services so that it requires a sustainable system. This condition requires a comprehensive, effective, and efficient spatial planning, one of which is the smart city concept. Smart environment is one of the indicators that has the aim of changing the human lifestyle in optimizing the use of resources so that they can achieve sustainable environmental conditions. The approach of a sustainable waste management system covers all sources and all aspects, waste production, sorting, separation, transportation, processing, recovery and disposal in an integrated manner by focusing on the maximum efficiency of resource use developed in the concept of Integrated Sustainable Waste Management (ISWM). This research focuses on Bandung which aims to evaluate the urban waste management system with Wasteaware reference indicators, identify indicators for urban waste management systems that are appropriate to be implemented, and formulate strategies for implementing urban waste management system indicators that support the concept of smart environment in Bandung using analysis SWOT.
Based on the assessment with Wasteaware, the indicator with the highest score is waste collection area coverage of 97% in terms of the percentage of households that get waste collection services in Bandung. Meanwhile, the indicator with the lowest assessment is controlled treatment and disposal at 0% because Bandung is part of the Regional TPA of West Java Province so that adjustments are needed in the provisions of the reference indicators. Utilization of the Internet of Things (IoT) is a major factor in the development of the smart city concept which needs to be one of the reference indicators. Determination of internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external (opportunities and threats) factors is based on the results of interviews and observations. The value of Internal Factor Analysis (IFAS) of the waste management system in Bandung is (-)
0.125 which is the X axis in the SWOT quadrant and the value of External Factor Analysis (EFAS) is (+) 0.1 which is the Y axis. From the results of the SWOT analysis The results obtained from the right strategy to be applied to urban waste management in Bandung are a Turn-Around strategy that takes advantage of opportunities by
minimizing the weaknesses that are owned, including the use of IoT to control, monitor and supervise, empower the community in the use of recycling, and have guidelines / clear and detailed provisions in cooperation between the private sector and government.
