Description
Summary:Abstract:

This research was performed in an attempt to gain a good understanding on carbonate reservoir characteristic of Baturaja Formation in \"XT\" field, West Java. Data from some wells in this field reveals a variation of reservoir characteristic, e.g. facies, porosity, and fluid saturation, which affected the reservoir distribution. In order to solve this problem a petrological study was carried out, which include core description, petrographic analysis, formation image interpretation and log analysis.

The lithological study was end up with an identification of seven carbonate facies named Planktic foram bioclastic packstone, Coral bioclastic rudstone, Coral Boundstone, Coral bioclastic packstone, Red algae - benthic foram bioclastic packstone, Benthic foram bioclastic wackestone and Dolomitic bioclastic packstone, which were classified into three groups: Reefal, Lagoonal and Open marine facies groups.

XT-l, XT-2 and XT-5 well data exhibit some differences of diagenetic products in each well, which were controlled by facies and diagenetic processes and environment. This dissimilarity resulted in variation of petrophysical parameters, especially cementation exponent (m value) to be applied in calculation of hydrocarbon saturation.
