Description
Summary:Energy has become the backbone of national economic growth. Indonesia is a country that has abundant natural resources potential, which was once known as the world's predominant oil producer and natural gas exporter. Currently, Indonesia has become an importer of petroleum and fuel oil to suffice domestic energy demands. The rising LPG consumption has further exacerbated Indonesia's dependence on imported energy supplies, contributing negatively to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Indonesia entails an energy development plan and robust energy transition roadmap towards energy self-sufficiency to strengthen sustainable national energy security. The government has made various efforts to depreciate energy imports as stipulated in Law No.30 / 2007 concerning National Energy Policy (KEN) and Presidential Regulation No. 22/2017 regarding the National Energy General Plan (RUEN). In these policies, natural gas is one of the government's pillars as a primary energy source to support national economic development. In this final project, the author uses a qualitative method by combining primary data sources from interviews with respondents with high credibility and extensive experience in the energy sector, especially the national natural gas industry, and secondary data analysis from literature and open access data sources. The author proposes a specific business solution to optimize natural gas utilization for domestic use to propel Indonesia's economy towards social prosperity.
