POTENTIAL OF EXTENDED PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITY IMPLEMENTATION ON THE USED LAPTOP MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF BANDUNG

The objectives of this research are to discover the potential of the extended producer responsibility (EPR) method in the used laptop e-waste management system in Bandung and how EPR can be implemented. The acquired sample population for this research is 80 respondents for the Bandung citizens sample category and 83 respondents for the laptop store/repair store sample category. The results of this research are that in citizen respondents, 91% answered that they are interested to follow EPR and on the laptop store/repair store category, 86% answered that they are interested as well. Based on the questionnaire results as well as past research, the EPR implementation scheme that can be done is by implementing takeback schemes on used laptops by distributors and retailers. These laptops are then transported to a recycling facility operated by the PRO. The recycling products are then sold to pay for the costs of recycling. Other than selling recycling products, other forms of funding are by adding the recycling cost to the market price of laptops and paying transportation fees when putting laptops on deposit sites. From the economic potential and EPR implementation impacts on the environment, human health, government, and industry analysis, it can be known that EPR has a tremendous potential to be implemented on the used laptop management system in Bandung.
