Performance Based Design(PBD) primarily on ductility demand under major earthquake has been considered as a criterion for measuring safety of a structure. The implementation of PBD as a basic design generally using lateral inertia forces induced displacement ductility demand when structures undergo plasticity.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Strength and Ductility are not the only criteria of earthquake resistance design of structure but also performance criteria, ATC-40 uses capacity spectrum method to estimate performance of the structure to earthquake. This thesis is a study about Capacity Spectrum methode in estimating structure\'s performance under influence of strong ground motion and its comparison to Dynamic Non-linear Analysis result.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> To Simplify the problem of in-elastic time history analysis performance based seismic analysis is developed, The Performance Based Design is an equivalent static analysis to assess the in-elastic response of structure during large seismic loading, the PBD as required in ATC-40 has been implemented to study the accuracy of the methode for a single degree of freedom system under several model response, result show that the level of discrepancy is compared to dynamic responses.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Art earthquake is a dynamic motion,then analysis tecnique that are compatible to analyze the dynamic response on a structure is non-linear dynamic analysis, however in the applications this analysis is very complicated and not feasible in practicular structure . A simpler option to estimate strength capacities and deformation demands is the non-linear static pushover analysis. Results obtained from the pushover analysis are displacements, ductility, plastic mechanism, behaviour, capacity curve then this results are compared with the results obtained from non-linear dynamic analysis,conclusions based on comparison of the two analysis. <br /> text
