Description
Summary:One of the biggest challenges on energy production perspective arise from the needs for reliable supply and environtment-friendly energy. Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC)-based steam generator is an alternative solution to overcome these challenges because it can utilize low-temperature geothermal energy sources available in many places, and it also more environment-friendly than conventional coal-fired power plants. In this study, a feasibility study is carried out on the design of ORC-based steam generator built on Mount Patuha, West Java. In this research, geothermal sources with a temperature of 161.9 ° C, a pressure of 10.3 bar, and a mass flow of 162 kg/s is used. With this source, simulations were carried out on three generator designs, where the best performing design is the one that had recuperator and preheater components in its design. This generator design has a perkWh generation cost of Rp. 805.92/kWh, 18% lower than West Java generation cost of electricity.
