Description
Summary:Puputan Field, a deepwater field discovered in 2002 in East Kalimantan, is located on a continental slope at water depths ranging from 1,200 to 2,400 feet, offshore Mahakam delta, North Kutai Basin. In the Puputan Field area, the accumulation of hydrocarbons is concentrated in the Upper Miocene slope channel complex with lithology in the form of amalgamated sand. Puputan Field has three wells namely EMS-1, EMS-2, and EMS-3ST1. There are three horizons in Puputan Field, namely the KR-70 horizon, the KR-80 horizon, and the KR-90 horizon. In this study the authors will apply seismic stratigraphy, seismic inversion and seismic attribute methods to identify reservoir characteristics, economic map reservoir distribution in Puputan Field precisely on the horizon between the horizon KR-80 and KR-90. This study was focused on 2 layers of sandstone that located at top 1090/ KR80 and Top 1160 at Puputan Field. Best inversion method for this place is model based inversion, known from quantity and quality. Play of each cluster is the upper slope channel, this is known from the stratigraphic analysis which shows the channel deposition and also through the seismic attribute. The attributes used are attributes based on crossplot analysis, namely acoustic impedance and porosity, as well as attributes that are suitable for analyzing the existence of the channel, these attributes include: RMS amplitude, variance and sweetness. The reservoir areas are then sorted based on their economy by using a correlation between the attributes and the economical thickness of the sand layer so that the Puputan Field can be developed economically and efficiently.
