One alternative raw water that can be used to overcome this problem of freshwater shortage is seawater. In the utilization of seawater as a source of freshwater, many desalination technologies have been developed, one of which is the desalination technology using solar still. This technology can purify seawater into freshwater by using the principle of distillation to separate the mineral content in seawater from clean water. Although this technology is relatively cheap and environmentally friendly, the efficiency of this technology is low. Therefore, in this study, a unit modification was carried out by adding a preheater and recirculating brine water to the feed water to increase the unit's productivity by using basin solar-type solar still with a feed water discharge of 15 ml/minute. The results showed that the addition of preheater and recirculating brine water can increase the production of distillate water by 55.8% and the efficiency of the unit by 4.8%. In this study, an analysis of the effect of meteorological parameters and environmental conditions on unit productivity was also conducted. It was found that the intensity of solar radiation, ambient temperature, and wind speed were directly proportional to the volume of distillate water. Meanwhile, relative humidity is inversely related to the volume of distillate water. The distillate water produced from the two solar units still meets the drinking water quality standard of the Minister of Health Regulation Number 492 of 2010 for TDS and salinity parameters, but for the pH parameter of the distillate water produced does not meet the quality standard where the average pH of distillate water from unit A is 4, 93 with pH range is 4,09-4,75 and unit B 5,59 with pH range is 5,21-6,06. text
