Summary: | Sign language is the most commonly used language by the deaf to communicate. The ability to
communicate with sign language is one of the important requirements to be able to communicate
with the deaf. Although technological developments have made information about sign language
widespread in the general public, there are still very few sign language learning media that can
provide effective learning to its users. One possible solution to this problem is using Leap Motion
Controller, which is a peripheral device that can read the shape and movement of the user's hand.
In this final project, a need analysis for an Indonesian sign language learning media utilizing the
Leap Motion Controller is carried out. From the result of the analysis, various needs of the
application to be built are defined, as well as application designs to utilize the Leap Motion
Controller as a device to support sign language lessons. The resulting application is a sign language
learning application with a gesture recognition system using the Leap Motion Controller. The
application is built on the Unity3D platform and is built by following the incremental software
process model.
After the application is completed, a functional testing is carried out using blackbox method. Three
test cases were created with two input variations to test the functionality of the application. The
application successfully passed the three test cases with suitable results, but there are still some
problems that can be found and improved in the resulting application. |
